I enjoy the action (apart from the GRIM sex scenes) but they can drag. It's not good when a little voice in your head keeps repeating "I'm bored". Some very funny scenes, really really funny. I've never managed to bond with any of the characters, though, in the way that one does with Jorg and Jalan no matter how skeevy they're being. I see absolutely no similarities between his early work and yours, and I love both. Interestingly, if anything, the argument could be made that he took some inspiration from you: his newest (YA) trilogy is set in a far-future Europe that's devolved into medieval technology and features more than a little Viking influence. Very different stories, and of course there's always the possibility (if not probability) that we simply have a coincidence involving common influences or simultaneous independent ideas. James D. It's funny: I just wrote a blog on this same topic on 12/18. Personally, even though I am a novelist, I am not as influenced by novels as I am by comic books, films, and TV shows, but I do list the novels that have some influence on my writing. You can check out my blog at http://jlculberson.blogspot.com/ Love your writing!
