I recently come back to them as I now listen to books as I work, and wanted to see if I remembered any of it and if it got any better after. It’s a bit like you picked up on, pointless descriptions, tangents that are aimless and his need to weirdly align his story against politely issues today but wholly off the mark! <br />I’ll still finish the books, they are big that they become good value on audible. <br />Yet so many times I end up reacting negatively with an eye roll, or “get on with it” and even a “no shit Sherlock” moment.
