SPFBO 2019 has a winner!

The Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (Spiffbo) 2019 has a winner!

And it's The Sword of Kaigen by M.L Wang, which equalled the highest score we've ever seen in the contest. I plan to read it soon.

Congratulations also to 2nd placed Fortune's Fool with the highest ever 2nd place score. And to 3rd placed Blood of Heirs with the highest ever 3rd place score!

Check out the finalists' table for more books.

This year the contest broke its duck on female champions, and in fact the top 4 spots were all taken by female authors. In the past 2 years we've had one male and five female authors in the medallists positions!

And we actually do have a range of e-medals now (thanks to Barbara Pickering!).

And here's this year's Selfie-Stick, finally arrived after a long pandemic journey to M.L Wang - seen here with M.L's chosen proxy.

  1. Hello Mark,

Is it true that some of the submissions in the SPFBO are outright not given a chance and simply not read? Is who the bloggers pick to read completely at random and some of the entries are outright disqualified even without being given a chance?

    1. No, that's not true. Also it's a stupid thing to ask. Why are you asking stupid questions?

  2. This contest had so many quality books. I found 10 new authors to keep track of. I brought every book in the contest plus the ones that continued the series. Thanks Mark for starting this contest. Can not wait for SPFBO 6.
