Empire of Thorns
(well ... more of it)
This is what I sent to Voyager for the Emperor of Thorns map.
Very cool! I'm assuming that the low lands of the Nordic countries (i.e. Denmark, Skåne (Scania) up to the Stockholm region of Sweden) are below water. Looking forward to this book! You are one on my favourites of the "new" fantasy authors.
Yeah, I just checked it out in a simulator. About what I expected. Scandinavia + Finland essentially becomes a large island. Looking forward to reading about this.
Ancrath is roughly in the corner of Belgium/Luxembourg/France/Germany. Above the "Rhone" territory hints at it being somewhat more French.
So people don't worry about what you did to England and Ireland (looks very much destroyed) but wonder about Scandinavia? I am rather worrying about the poor fellows in Denmark! :)
So, the broken empire actually is the post-apocalyptic Europe? Awesome idea! :D And I have to wait till November for the Tövisek Császára (Emperor of Thorns)? The hungarian translator guy made an excellent job with the previous books, if only he could work any faster...
Where is scandinavia?! :-)
ReplyDeleteUp north!
DeleteI'm writing about it right now :D
"Seven Vikings looked at me as if I might be some kind of hitherto unseen fish they’d just landed. "
I think Ratatoskr is referring to the fact that on the map there is ocean where Scandinavia usually is.

DeleteYup - if you leave the taps running until the sea is 100m deeper you find that the Netherlands and Denmark are too wet to matter any more.
DeleteNorway does pretty well. Most fjords just get a tiny bit wider if you make the sea that much deeper.

DeleteIt's not strictly a map of Europe with higher sea levels, and its enough of a funhouse mirror to be more interesting than that.
ReplyDeleteZOMG the world of Empire of Thorns is ... our world!
ReplyDeleteSorry, couldn't resist.
I hope the map will be part of the book.
