THE BOOK THAT WOULDN'T BURN has a US cover!

There's a story behind this, but one that can't be told right now. Probably not for years to come!

However, the excellent people at Ace have now negotiated with the wonderful Tom Roberts and are using his art on the US cover, with very slight tweaks to the colour balance. The US version is warmer than the UK's. Also there's minor difference in the lettering of my name and surrounding info.

Here they are side by side - I feel the true collector needs both ... in hardcover:

Mark it "to read" on Goodreads:  https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61145554

And pre-order for the win (also to help me out)

UK - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Book-That-Wouldnt-Burn/dp/0008456712/ref=sr_1_1

US - https://www.amazon.com/Book-That-Wouldnt-Library-Trilogy/dp/0593437918/ref=sr_1_1

(Amazon links above, but consider Waterstones, Barnes & Nobel etc)

Also! Check out my new marketing opportunity 😁

  1. Can you tell the story behind George R R Martin's blurb? Not to be rude but I always laugh when I see it "An Excellent Writer", comes off (to me) almost like GRRM can't be bothered but that's probably more a me thing than anything else. Love your books, the SPFBO has seriously derailed my TBR pile as I feel I always need to read the winner and upper echelon contestants, thanks for everything you do or are behind!

    1. It does feel a bit like a "you thing". I'm happy to take being called "an excellent writer" all day long. George read One Word Kill and emailed me to say "I enjoyed the hell out of it." He'd already said I was an excellent writer after reading one of my short stories (there's a video on youtube of him saying it) he was kind enough to let my publishers put that on books, since it's about my writing in general rather than any specific book. ---- Great to hear the SPFBO is proving useful to you, and I hope you enjoy TBTWB :)

  2. Hey, where do I go for the marketing opportunity. I’m dying to find out. I have a book coming out from a small press 2/14.

    1. Apologies - I didn't think anyone would take that seriously. The "opportunity" was to have your book microscopically included on the bookshelves in the cover ... which would of course be pointless.

Just realized that last comment was anonymous. I put my name there. I remember when you first dropped Prince of thorns. I put all my friends onto it! My email is dlafayette24@gmail.com

    1. Very much appreciated, Derrick. Without word of mouth an author's going nowhere. Best of luck with the book, I hope it does well for you!

  5. I have read all of your work and you are one of my favorites. My book collection has nearly all of your works in 1st Edition 1st printing signed copies. I would love to get a jump on them for this series. Are there plans for a limited edition now?

    1. yes, The Broken Binding will be doing a UK-based limited edition, and The Signed Page are doing copies with signed art cards in the US

    2. Mark, These covers are spectacular, and I appreciate the notes about the differences, always. I pre-purchased the US from Amazon and will pre-purchase either the UK cover or paperback from Book Depository, need to generate a shopping list first. I'm hunting down Red Sister but not in mass pb size, my heart has been yearning for that book for years.
