The Birth of a Cover (i) - The Conception!

So I did this before (albeit after the event and all in one go) for the King of Thorns cover.

For Emperor of Thorns the excellent Jason Chan is supplying me with a blow-by-blow account.

And here's the first blow!

It's a sad state of affairs when a chap's got to crown himself!

  1. Who else is going to crown him? The Pope?

  2. Love it! It's almost like he's saying, "I'll have that crown, thank you very much!"

  6. Maybe it's because I can't draw a stick figure without help, but I love peeking behind the cover to see the creative process that led to the final artwork. By the looks of it, this is going to be amazing.

  8. Damn, that is super cool! I love these in progress pictures. I'm artistically challenged and the transformation from the quick blocking and shapes to the final product is astounding.

  10. Paul, better not. The Medieaeval German emperors got crowned by the pope and it always resulted in a political mess. And Jorg would totally end up excommunicated. :)

  11. I hope there is someone left to rule over after the carnage I anticipate :)
