Hooray for Grim Oak Press + Grey Sister charity lottery!

I'm at Charlton Farm Hospice right now with my daughter Celyn for a break. Much of what the hospice does is give respite breaks to life limited children and their families.

I was going to post this tomorrow, but about an hour ago a little boy died in a room close to ours. And that's the other part of what the hospice offers. End of life care in a place where the children feel safe and have happy memories.

So, here's a photo I took this morning of Celyn handing over a fake cheque for a real donation of $5,000 from the publisher of my Broken Empire special edition, Grim Oak Press.

To increase the pot I'm running a charity lottery for my last signed US ARC of Grey Sister which I will send to the winner on Friday.

All you have to do is comment here, or on my Facebook, or Twitter posts to say that you have donated $5 or more to the charity that runs this children's hospice and several others.

I will trust anyone who says they've done it, because seriously, who would invite that sort of karma?

And on Thursday I will randomly select a winner from a combined list of all those who donated.

Be good to each other.

  3. That's great Mark, I tired to donate through their site, but I just kept getting an error message, I'm not sure if it's because I'm in the US or what. I also tried to donate using their "Donate by Text" option but it seems like it failed to be sent. Maybe some other people can try to donate and I'll see if it was just me or what.

    1. It's not just you, but I donated without problem ten minutes ago. I have alerted the site. Hopefully if you try again it will work.

    2. It's still giving me an error, when I click on donate after filling in my info it takes me to the pay site but then gives me an error message. I tried a different browser but had the same exact problem. I did notice something odd though, when I switch to US, there is no option for a state, instead there's a required spot for county. I wonder if that's causing some weird error?

    3. They have a problem with donations from the US and are working to fix it. I'll put you in the draw and hopefully you can try again next week & it will all work!

  4. Hmmmm donation page isn't working (as in it appears the card processing site is borked.)

Fortunately I live in Bristol, so it shouldn't be too hard to give them cash...

  5. "Home Thank you for your donation" That site worked very smoothly for me.

At first I was going to donate all my Indie book earnings for the month of February. Then I saw the specified minimum of $5...

    :-o

Time to tap the Rainy Day & Good Deeds fund.

    Hope you are very well!

  9. By the way I've been on holidays, that's why I'm only doing it this week - not that I regret the donation outside the opportunity to win the book, but am I still included in the pot?
