Audio covers it.

I'm starting a collection of audio book covers that are quite different from the covers on their better known paper book counterparts.

  2. What's the rationale behind the difference between the covers? Different audiences, different publishers or just for the sake of it?

    1. It may be a different publisher with a different budget for art, and/or a different view of what their market will accept in terms of a cover.

  3. The evolution of the art between the Broken Empire books is so good though. With these the font changes the tone of the art is completely different which makes it feel less like a series.

  4. Hi,
This isn't about book covers but is related to audio books. I was wondering what your thoughts are on the inclusion of sound in audio books? Not necessarily music but FX/atmospheres similar to cinema or like the radiophonic work the BBC used to do in the 50s and 60s.

    1. I think they already do that for some audiobooks. It's called graphic audio(?) and is a more expensive option often reserved for wildly successful children's books.

I don't listen to audiobooks (not even mine) so I have no strong opinion. If there is a demand for it from folk willing to pay what it costs ... go for it.

    2. Thanks for the pointer. Did a search on Graphic Audio, they do a load of Brandon Sanderson stuff with the kind of thing I was thinking of. Pretty interesting. Thanks!
